The freshman formal was really fun. My friends and I are always the first ones to dance at any dance we go to, and that did not fail to carry over into the formal this weekend. As soon as we showed up we were dancing our hearts out, despite all of the other people who were most definitely judging us. I originally had a date to go with, but he, along with my friends’ dates, ditched me, so my friends and I went as a trio and had a blast. I think they definitely could have played some better music and maybe gotten a DJ because the music was not the best. I understand that we have to play all clean music because we’re a good Cathloic school, but maybe just download the clean versions of more popular songs like Cov Cath does for their dances instead of omitting them all together. My favorite part of the whole thing though, was getting ready and taking pictures before the dance even started. My friends came over to my house early in the morning and we went to get our nails done and pic...
Yesterday was my freshman retreat. I thought it was nice to have a chance to be at school, but not go to classes and have a day to focus on our faith. However, I do not think the retreat day was put together well for our age. Sister’s talk was nearly three hours long, and we were sitting on hard floors without chairs for all of it. No one was focused on what she was saying because our backs were aching. I understand that we are young, but trust me, everyone was uncomfortable and in pain. I I recognize that they tried to break up the long talks with some small group activities in between, but it wasn’t really much help. No one was able to focus on what she was saying after the first hour.  The content of the lectures were just not able to keep any of our attention.  This is because we already heard the same story just a month ago on Foundation Day. Personally I feel like Sister’s talk was more appropriate for an Alumnae Group, as it was much more of a history class than an ...
What’s up brochachos I’m back again with vlog numero dos This week we’re gonna be chatting about technology and social media use! Obviously in our society, especially in the younger population, internet use has skyrocketed in the last 10 years.  What are some advantages and disadvantages of the internet-driven world we live in today? My personal phone use is minimal compared to other people my age. I average about 2 hours per day on my phone, whereas many of my friends average 5 hours and up.  I try to always keep my phone near me so in case of an emergency I am available, but I do my best not to have my face in the screen 24/7. I feel like constantly being on your phone limits the way you live, really.  People who spend all their time on social media and their phones in general usually don’t have very good communication skills, because they are more adapted to texting rather than talking face-to-face. I think this is one major disadvantage in our new technolog...
What’s up brotatochips, it’s yo girl Abby out here with my first blog post! Blog assignment numero uno for my very favorite class is that Y’ALL get to hear about my favorite parts of NDA! Today is day 9 and I love it so far. The relaxing environment helps provide a stress-free learning experience when it comes to the atmosphere in the classroom.  I also love my classes. My tech and scripture classes are so open and fun, my teachers don’t even care when I talk without raising my hand (very different from grade school.) Art is literally the most chill class I’ve ever been in and Mr. Eckerle always keeps us entertained.  Mr. Stamm in chemistry is always so off topic, we literally learn nothing but that keeps class interesting. SJ’s English class is impossible to stay awake in but I won’t complain too much. Right now my group in health is filming a music video for a parody to the theme song from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air about how to stay socially healthy, and I’m actuall...
